International Dresden Barkhausen Award & Dresden Barkhausen Poster Award

The Materials Research Network Dresden (MFD), the Fraunhofer IZFP Dresden, and Technische Universität Dresden award two prizes:

Since 2006 the International Dresden Barkhausen Award - granted for outstanding scientific results in applied research and development at frontier areas between physics, materials science, and electrical engineering. Normally the prize is announced every year in June.

Since 2009 the "Dresden Barkhausen Poster Award for Students and Junior Scientists" - which is announced for outstanding poster presentations in respect of content and design granted in the same topic and usually announced in November.

The prize money for both announcements comes from donations. This year we thank the following donors:
arxes Information Design Berlin GmbH
Fries Research and Technology GmbH
HTS GmbH Coswig
Zentrum für Mikrotechnische Produktion der TU Dresden

The award committee consists of the representatives of MFD, Fraunhofer IZFP and TU Dresden as well as the donors. It chooses the most outstanding nominee. The award ceremony with the lecture of the laureate usually takes place in February of the following year. The first announcement of the International Dresden Barkhausen Award was initiated in 2006 by Prof. Norbert Meyendorf, head of the IZFP Dresden and chairmen of the award committee. It was the year with two anniversaries of Heinrich Barkhausen: the 125th anniversary of his birthday and the 50th of his death.
